Conducting OJT with a well-prepared plan is important but you don't have to stick rigidly to this plan. It is important to take advantage of every available opportunity to conduct OJT effectively. Supervisors are expected to undertake OJT along the guidelines of a pre-determined plan but at the same time remain flexible enough not to miss other appropriate opportunities for conducting OJT.
