This item includes item 7.1 and 7.1.1 of the Agenda. Mr.Kunst presented the report of WG 22 as given in document 18(Houston/Sec)22. Referring to document 18(Houston/See)22A he presented the list of amendments on the observations given in document 18(Houston/See)29. These amendments Mr.Kunst commented one by one.
Mr.Martinsen proposed on UK comment 9 to add the word "normal" in front of voltage. This was accepted.
Mr.Xia proposed on CN 4(clause 5.2.2) that the document be brought in line with IEC part 201. It was agreed to bring in the new voltages together with a Note.
Mr.Reinecke drew attention to clause 4.7(UK comment 10) and asked for a discussion.
He wanted a limit of 28,8 V to limit gassing. This gave rise to a long discussion.
Mr.Rebaudengo proposed that the question of voltage variations in dc systems supplied by batteries be dealt with by correspondance between the objecting delegations, being US, DE, UK, NL, CA and PL, and the Convenor of the WG.
This was accepted by the committee. On resolution of the above matters the committee agreed that the document would go forward as a CDV.
Referring to item 5.6.3(UK 23) Mr.Martinsen expressed concern about the number of lighting circuits required. This would be taken care of by a Note. On clause 4.4 in the CDV Mr.Martinsen proposed to delete the expression "adverse and unusual temperature". This was agreed and the text Was amended accordingly.
The comment CA 2(clause 4.3) gave rise to a long discussion. The following was agreed: On the lines 5 to 8 respectively delete the following words: ..... for sea-going craft ..... all of.............operating at the same time.
Mr.Borstlap was invited to introduce document 18(Kista/WG 19)8, which was a proposal that had not been circulated earlier. He received several comments on the document.
Mr.Kevin Zinn, US, agreed to accept nomination as Convenor of WG 22 subject to the agreement of his employer. He was also prepared to take on the convenorship of the joint WG between IEC/TC 18 and ISO/TC 188.
The Chairman thanked Mr.Zinn and asked him to notify the Secretary of TC 18 as soon as possible.
The Chairman thanked Mr.Kunst for his report and for the effort put in to further the document.
12.9 WG 23 - Accumulator batteries

Mr.Landman presented the report of WG 23.
The Chairman reminded that from now on a New Work Item Proposal can only be raised on entirely new projects and new standards.
