Mr.Secretary reminded that the merger of parts 401 and 202 into part 305 had not formally been accepted. He said that this was now a question to be considered by WG 23.
This was accepted by Mr.Landman.
On the question of liaison with ASTM/F25 the Chairman advised that this could proceed having received confirmation from the IEC Central Office that this is in order.
The Chairman requested Mr.Landman to proceed with setting up the liaison directly with ASTM/F25 and to keep the Secretary of TC 18 informed. The Secretary requested him to keep his WG members fully informed.
The Chairman thanked Mr.Landman for his report and said that we look forward to his CDV in the future.
12.10 WG 24 - A.C. supply systems, with voltages in the range above 1 kV up to and including 11 kV
18(Houston/See)24
Mr.Landman presented the report of WG 24.
He mentioned in particular that the WG members recommended against the Norwegian proposal to raise the established voltage limit above 15 kV.
The Chairman advised the WG as the next step to go to a CD rather than a CDV. This was accepted by Mr.Landman.
Mr.Lofaro said that it was unclear to him what was the need to increase the voltage level as proposed by Norway.
Mr.Martinsen answered that 15 kV is not a voltage limit for the future. IEC 60038 is giving this value in brackets and it will therefore disappear leaving 12 kV as the voltage limit. With increasing power demand the short circuit current levels will force the designers to increase the voltage level as there is no suitable equipment available on the market.
This led to an extensive discussion of the issue.
The Chairman put to vote the proposal that WG 24 retain the voltage limit of 15 kV, which is written in the scope of the WG.
This was accepted by a large majority of the countries voting.
The Chairman thanked Mr.Landman for his report.
12.11 WG 25 - Medium voltage switchgear and controlgear assemblies
18(Houston/Sec)25
Mr.Borstlap presented the report of WG 25.
Mr.Martinsen requested the WG to evaluate also the gasfilled busbar systems, but Mr.Borstlap was reluctant to do that and stated that the WG would soon present a CD for circulation and consideration of the National Committees.
