12.4 WG 18 - Mobile and fixed offshore units

Mr.Pallesen presented his report and touched upon problems of communication with the US members of the WG, which now appeared to be resolved. There appeared also to be uncertainty about the continued membership of Mr.Vromans, NL.

Mr.Borstlap said that this question would soon be sorted out by him.

 

On question by Mr.Sharman if WG 18 would work on the missing topics in isolation, the Chairman said, that the other WGs would be advised prior to any work commencing on any of the missing topics and could therefore ensure that WG 18 do not work in isolation.

 

Mr.Lofaro referred to previous difficulties with representation of the US in the various working groups of TC 18. He said that if this is experienced in the future he should be contacted and he would ensure that the matter be remedied.

 

Mr.Pallesen said that he would now withdraw as Convenor and that Mr.Ian Stewart, UK, would take over.

Mr.Stewart expressed thanks to Mr.Pallesen for his able and dedicated work as Convenor of WG 18 during many years and for his impressive contributions to the good progress and results of his WG.

 

The Chairman thanked Mr.Pallesen for his report.

 

12.5 WG 19 - Quality aspects of power supply systems

Mr.Borstlap presented the report of WG 19 and noted that the subject had been discussed at length under previous items of the Agenda.

 

The Chairman thanked Mr.Borstlap for his report and for his future work.

 

12.6 WG 21 - Revision of IEC 533

Mr.Harms presented his report on the work of WG 21 giving an overview of the progression of the EMC document since 1997.

He mentioned in particular the liaison with TC 80 and that the relationship had improved especially as Mr. Kim Fisher was now serving both on TC 80 and WG 21. For components and installation in ships the problem is the emission level. This has led to a division into four zones, which Mr.Harms explained in detail.

 

With reference to document 18(Houston/See)6 no questions or comments were raised.

Mr.Harms advised that the preparation of the FDIS document will be completed by 15th of November 1998.
