12.1 WG3 - Tankers

Mr.Rebaudengo first of all thanked his WG members for their valuable contributions. He then went through the report point by point.
Mr.Sharman confirmed that the UK delegation was in agreement with the FDIS as now revised and the Chairman agreed.
Mr.Rebaudengo pointed to the relationship with IMO and the fact that the new publication will contradict SOLAS. It was stipulated that the publication would be ready by the end of the year.
Mr.Hunter proposed to formulate a preface in the publication which would cover both possibilities, SOLAS accepting the publication or not.
This was agreed by the committee.
On a question by the Chairman Mr.Sharman confirmed that he would take over the convenorship of WG 3.
The committee wished to record their thanks to Mr.Rebaudengo for his work and able conduct of WG 3.
The Chairman thanked Mr.Rebaudengo for his report.
12.2 WG 4 - SOLAS

Mr.Hunter presented the report of WG 4 and gave additional information and comments on the various points.
The WG proposed to develop a new standard on alarm and safety systems, and to refer this work to WG 16. This was agreed by the committee.
Mr.Hunter accepted to produce a draft scope of work as a basis for WG 16 to develop the new standard.
The Chairman thanked Mr.Hunter for his report.
12.3 WG 16 - Revision of IEC 92-504 and 92-504A

Mr.Rebaudengo presented the report of WG 16. He mentioned in particular the valuable contributions of the late Mr.Erling Hagedal(NO) on computers.
Mr.Rebaudengo stressed the importance of the cooperation with IMO.
He was no longer in a position to continue as Convenor of WG 16 and would look for a successor. He further mentioned that the document before being circulated as a CDV needs to be examined by the WG 16 No questions were raised.
