11. Financial Analysis
11.1 General
The simple financial analysis was worked out only for the Phase 1 Project of the Elevated Light Rail Transit System (ELRTS) in Bangalore with a route length of 25.9 kms based on a project cost estimated by the JARTS study team.
Basic assumptions for the analysis are as follows;
(1) The project construction period is assumed to be 3 years from 2000 to 2002.
(2) Project life is assumed to be 30 to 40 years after the completion of the project in case of applying the long term official loan.
(3) Revenue are raised only from fare box. The ELRTS ridership is considered only for the Phase 1 Project during the years after the completion of the full network of the ELRTS.
(4) The fare rate is fixed at 2.2 times as much as the present bus fare in terms of Rupees per Passenger km during the project life.
11.2 Revenue
Revenue of the project are raised only from fare box of the ELRTS. Any revenue raised from advertising and property development were not considered.
11.2.1 Projected Ridership of ELRTS
Total daily passenger trips on the first phase network of Bangalore ELRTS in the year 2011 have been estimated in the process of transport planning by UB group. The ELRTS ridership on the original Phase 1 project is estimated to be 2.030 million passenger kilometers daily on the assumption that the full network of ELRTS will commence operating in the year 2011.
