line sections including a control area of each station with relay interlocking, even in failure of central control functioning.
(3) Interface with Other Electrical Facilities
The communication systems will provide for the circuits of cables to transmit data and information for these following systems which should be planned and installed by the other trades concerned.
(a) Substation System: Remote Control System
The circuits will be provided for the SCADA system between the Control Center and each substation.
(b) Signaling System: LTC System
The circuits will be provided for the CTC system between the Control Center and each station and depot with a local control unit.
(c) Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) System
The circuits will be provided for the AFC system between the Control Center and each station.
(4) Majior System and Equipment of the Communication System
(a) Telephone Facilities
In Phase 1 the PABX will be installed at the Control Center, the depot and the railway administrative building, which will provide the circuits for the telephones to be installed at the places, stations and substations. In addition the train dispatch telephones will be installed at the Control Center and the stations with interlocking facilities which should be available for communication to make prompt restoration to normal train operation and the alteration therefor in the event of disorder of train operations, and also direct link telephones at each station and the depot for communication between adjoining stations to ensure train operation in failure of signaling systems.
(b) Radio System
The radio transmission network in Phase 1 will be established through the base stations to be installed at the Control Center, the depot and other locations to enable oontinuous oommunications between the line oonltrollers at the Control Center and these train drivers and maintenance staff with mobile units, subject to a radio transmission network in the future covering the entire length of ELRT system. A frequency band of 800 MHz will be employed subject to approval by the Indian Authorities. The gains, height and locations of base station antennas should be determined prior to
