the implementation of installation work in Phase 1 by taking into consideration future urban development plan, providing for communications within the service areas covering the entire lines for the ELRT system.

(c) Public Address System for Passenger Service

Public address systems will be installed at platforms and station concourses to inform passengers of the approaching, arrival and departure of trains, and also to provide for emergency announcements if any fire and earthquake. The system will be available for pre-recorded and live broadcasting under control by the console to be installed at the Control Center, which should also allow local announcement at each station under fault conditions of the central equipment at the Control Center and transmission network.

The central equipment to be installed at the control Enter will be accommodated to provide for each station and the depot within the service area in Phase 1, except for the functions and capacity of the control unit and the system console which should be available for all the service areas to be expended in the Final Phase.

(d) Closed Circuit Television System

A CCTV will be installed at the platforms and concourse in each station to enable the station attendant to monitor passenger movement and the train drivers the passenger's boarding and alighting from the driver's cab. The system will be able to allow the Line Controllers to monitor and also record any view selected within the service areas in the entire ELRT route and the scenes on the arrival and departure tracks in the depot.

The central control unit including system consoles and switch controllers will be accommodated to provide for only the service area covering the stations and depot to be constructed in Phase 1, the functions and capacity of which shou1d be available without modification for all the service areas in the final stage.

(e) Communication Lines

A fiber optic network will be provided with a PCM carrier system to establish the links for all communications and signaling circuits to transmit data, audio and video signals and telephone conversations through the service area in Phase 1.

These fiber optic cables will include the channels for the sections to the north of Navarang junction and to the south of Domlur station on the Red line, and those to the south of Mysore Road station on the Green line, for the future extension of these lines, and also the additional cables should be installed in Phase 1 respectively for the Control Center for the Blue line to Hudson Circle station and the Yellow line to Mayo station, for the future development of the ELRT system.
