(4) Major System and Equipment of the Signaling System

(a) CTC Equipment

The centralized traffic control system is composed of a set of central equipment to monitor and control train operation and within the controlled sections and a supplmental equipment for management of train operation diagrams, with micloprocessors for high-speed data processing which allow future system expansion.

The central equipment will include the central unit, an integrated display and consoles, which will be designed to allow each Line Controller to control and monitor individually the train movements on the designated line sections and for off-peak hours a few of Line Controllers to do collectively them. Each console will have two sets of VDUs to display the signal routes, the locations and identification numbers of all the trains on the designated line sections.

A time table control unit with micro-processors will generate the daily working timetable which will be loaded off line prior to revenue services, these timetables of which will enable tracking train identifications for control and monitor of ELRT train operation. Although we assume a projector system for the integrated display panel based on BRTRL requirements, it is desirable during detailed design to consider adoption of a universal ELD graphic system from the viewpoint of considerations on maintenance.

(b) Train Describer System

The train describer system will trace each train identification based on the diagram input, signal routes set and information on train detection by track circuits, allowing the Line Contlloers to control and monitor all the train identifications on the lone sections controlled under the CTC system. These train identifications will be changed by Line Controllers at the Control Center and/or on approval of Line Controller concerened by the local operator at the depots and stations with interlocking facilities, in case of train accidents and alteration of train operations in the current timetable.

Under fault conditions of the central unit of CTC system, the system will function for the control and monitor of these identification through the network between local control units installed at the station with interlocking facilities.

(c) Interlocking System

An electric interlocking system will be envisaged, which should be reviewed to employ relay interlocking due to the maintainability of BMRTL maintenance In Phase 1, the following stations and vehicle depot will be equipped with an interlocking
