In the traffic projection, the ELRTS will have the second largest share of 18.5%, after public bus, among the transport modes by the year 2011. 85% of the ELRTS passenger trips is assumed to be shifted from public bus. Few trips would shift to the ELRTS from two wheelers which was ranked the second largest mode without the ELRTS as shown in Table 4.3-2. Further analysis for the traffic behavior of two wheelers would be needed to improve the congestion of road traffic.

Link volumes of ELRTS lines were calculated in daily trip volumes. The daily link volume for each line of ELRTS are presented Appendix 4.3-1. For the rail transit project, the peak hour peak direction (PHPD) link loads are usually required.
