2.4.3 Transportation

 

In the Comprehensive Development Plan following three tasks are identified for the future.

1. Improving the public transport system by providing necessary infrastructural facilities like better road network, bus bays and shelters, bus terminals, depots, workshops etc. and making the BTS a more efficient transport service.

2. Strengthening of traffic management by providing modern equipment and introducing traffic engineering measures.

3. Introduction of Rail Transit System for Banbgalore as along term measure to meet the transportation needs of commuters.

 

2.4.4 Land Use

 

The total demand of land for different urban uses for a population of 7 million by 2011 is estimated at 56,465 ha. the details of proposed land use for meeting the requirement of various uses in the Local Planning Area based on the moderate gross destiny of 124 persons per hectare are indicated in Table 2.4-3.

2.4.5 Phasing of Development

 

The Comprehensive Development Plan (Revised) in Bangalore recommended the following development programme divided into two phases. Phase 1 programme will be implemented from 1994 to 2001 and Phase 2 from 2001 to 2011.
