ICERS ACTIVITIES
The work of ICERS is coordinated by an international steering committee
headed by a chairperson-currently Mr. S. Stallwood of Wasash Maritime Centre. The present
committee comprises representatives from Canada, Denmark, Japan, Kuwait, Singapore,
Ukraine, IMLA and Institute of Marine Engineers (UK)(3).
A working group was set up at ICERS 2, ( chaired by Mr. Maurice Jenkins
of the Canadian Coast Guard), which was tasked with collecting, collating and classifying
course objectives from MET establishments which operate engine room simulator courses. it
is hoped to present the Findings at ICERS 3. It is intended that further working groups
will be set to investigate other problematic areas identified at conferences.
A proposal will be put forward for discussion in the near future, to
investigate the possibility of setting up a discussion group (User-Group) for the engine
room simulator community, on the 'Internet'.
A future goal of ICERS is that the outcomes of conference, (and
possibly User-Group discussions), will be suitable for use by IMLA in its consultative
capacity to IMO.
