Compared to the other higher educational Systems, the Romanian one has a strong academic character, based on the knowledge amassed during the pre-university education which has a very high level.

I hope no one will mind if I give an example.

The curriculum for mathematics in the American maritime high-schools for the 1st and 2nd years of study in the same as the curriculum for Romanian pupils during their final years of study in high-school. On the other hand, it is true that the practical training of the American students is superior, especially because of the technical endowment.

Figure 1 is a general scheme of the Romanian education, in which we can see the special place of merchant marine higher education.
