INFORMATION EXCHANGE
DECISION SUPPORT

 

One project is developing decision support systems for handling emergencies. This system integrate information from different system as fire detection, closing of fire doors, information of ships stability and simulation of consequences of filling and discharging different ballast tank if an emergency should occur. This system, which has an interactive graphical MMI, also consist of training programs for preparation for handling of different critical situations.

 

Organization structures and Strategic decision support

 

To be able to get effect of the different information technology systems developed and installed both on board and in shore organizations, one has to structure the working processes influenced by the systems.

 

First of all one must structure the strategic analysis and assist in developing the best cost/benefit solutions. Information modelling for assistance in strategic analyses and development of decision support systems. This include use of modelling working processes and enterprise modelling for development of organization structures. Future flexible organizational models, improved working routines and improved information flow and decision making will be the result of this project, shown in Figure 4.

 

Organization of the operation of the ships will in the future involve the equipment and system suppliers to an larger extent. Far more long term arrangements with Service and guarantee arrangements and "partnership" agreements will be business opportunities for the parties involved.
