Chinary Ung was born in Cambodia in 1942 and since 1964 he has resided in the United States. He is currently a professor of composition at University of California at San Diego. Ung has received many honors for his compositions, including American Academy, NEA, Guggenheim, Koussevitsky, Kennedy, Ford, Rockefeller Foundation. In 1989, he was the first American to receive the International Grawemeyer Award for his orchestral piece Inner Voices. The music of Chinary Ung is published by C. F. Peters Corporation. As part of the millennium celebration, his award-winning work Inner Voices will be performed by the American Composers Orchestra at Carnegie Hall in New York City in October 2000.
Gliding Wind represents an imaginative object floating in space. Some sound-characteristics such as vibrato with varied speeds, slidings, and pitch-inflections are meant to play as an integral part of the "Singing" quality of the piece Gliding Wind was commissioned and premiered by keizo Mizoiri on October 28, 1999 at Sumida Triphony Hall in Tokyo.
Born on 23 April 1971 in Indonesia. She learned Composition with Slamet Abdul Sjukur. Then in 1994 She learned composition with John Cousin at Canterbusy University In New Zealand for one year. In 1997, she won OPRS (Overseas Post Graduate Research Scholarship) and MGS (Monash Graduate Scholarship) from Monash University in Australia to do a Ph. D in Asian Women's Literature. In 1998, she became one of the winners of Competmon for Indonesran Composers held by AKI and the German Embassy.

"JU" for Solo Contrabass and Percussions -- The Chinese character 'Ju' means "gather", as opposed to san, T.e, "dismiss", in Zhuang Zhou philosophy. At the beginning, the music depicts a mystery in the universe, and then falls into a state of contemplation, after a climax of burning excitement, it goes back to Nature's sound.
