ジョイアス・ダンス
1977年マレーシアのサバ州、コターキナバル生まれ。99年マレーシア・インスティチュート・アートで音楽のディプロマを取得。99年音楽部門の最優秀賞を受けた。
アジアの喜びに満ちた音。この音楽は、踊るために、それも変拍子の活発なダンスを創り出すために、複雑な4分の7拍子で書かれた。このダンスは、今年の作曲のテーマを描き、歓喜する感情といったような喜びに満ちた音を人間の心の底からよびさます。常に4分の7拍子を用いる中国の民族グループの律動的な波動にもとづいている。等しい部分から成る3部形式で、この金管五重奏を強調した。急速なリズムが、調の中心にはっきりしたアクセントをつけて、規則的な普通の拍子になるように疾走する。

Joyous Dance
I was born in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia in 1977. I have completed my music diploma at Malasian Institute of Art in 1999. I won the best student of Music Department 1999.
Joyous Sounds of Asia. This music was written for dancing and written in compound meter 7/4 to create an irregular metered lively dance that depicts the theme of this year's composition, evokes jubilant feelings-like joyous sounds from deep within human nature. Based on the rhythmic pulsation of the lo-so ethnic group of China who usually use the 1/4 time. Ternary form with equal emphasis on this brass quintet. Fast rhythmic drive with tonal centre marcato into a regular common time.
米倉香織
東京即興曲
1973年東京生まれ。東京芸術大学音楽学部作曲科を経て、現在同大学院に在籍中。作曲を北村昭、松下功に師事。94年アジア作曲家連盟台北大会にてACL青年作曲賞第一位を受賞。95年日本音楽コンクール入選。アジア作曲家連盟バンコク大会参加。96年学内にて安宅賞を受賞。この作品は、箏奏者の水谷隆子氏の委嘱によって98年に書かれた。ハーモニカと箏という珍しい組み合わせ。ここでは、箏は伝統楽器として扱わず、箏本来の持つ音色を考え、ハーモニカは、敢えて音楽的な先入観を持ち込むことで、2つの楽器が不思議な世界を醸し出すように企んで書き進められている。雑多なイメージが交錯し、とりとめも無く、意味ありげな世界になった曲全体は、規則的なビートを持って動く音を中心的要素とし、自由なフレーズ・特殊な音響・語りを絡めながら、様々な場面を並べていく。
YONEKURA Kaori
Tokyo Impromptu
Born in 1973 in Tokyo. Graduated from composition in the department of music in Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music, she is now in the Master course in the same university. She has learned composition with KITAMURA Akira and MATSUSHITA Isao. In 1994 she was awarded the first prize of ACL Young composition at Taipei competition of the Asia Composers League, in 1995 was selected in Japan Music Competition, and in 1996 was rewarded with Ataka prize in the university.
This piece was written in 1998 for the commission by Koto player MIZUTANI Takako. Because of rare combination of harmonica and Koto, I endeavored to think only the timbre, which Koto originally has, not treating Koto as a traditional instrument. For harmonica, I went on writing to intend that to carry a musical bias for this instrument into music results in that two instruments could trigger somewhat mysterious world. I might create a rambling and yet strangely suggestive world in whose miscellaneous images cross. The whole of the work advances, making tones moving with a certain regular beat as central factor. With unrestricted phrases, peculiar sounds, and speech in case twisting around the factor, various scenes are displayed.
