There are 49 municipal and private Hoikuens.
4 and 5 year-old children for whom the following are true, are eligible to enter Hoikuen.
・Parents or guardians work outside the house during the day
・Parents or guardians work at home apart from the children
・Mother is pregnant or has just giving birth
・Parents or guardians are sick or disabled
・Whose family needs an attendant for a sick or disabled person or an inpatient

Children have lunch and refreshments together, in order to learn good manners and maintain good health.
Talk with the nurses if your child cannot eat specific foods due to personal preference, religious reasons or customary practice.
Also speak with them if your child has any food allergies.
When your child is sick, what can you do?
When your child is sick, he/she will not be able to go to Hoikuen.
If he/she becomes sick during the day, the Hoikuen will ask you to come and take him/her home.
