3. On “School Admission by Recommendation”
High school courses such as Industrial Science, Business, Sciences and Mathematics, Physical Education, Comprehensive Studies, accept students as many as 30% to 100% of the available openings on Recommendation.
In order to qualify for such acceptance, the student needs to demonstrate:
strong desire to study the specialized subject in that particular school;
good scholastic scores and specialized skills that meet the school's passing standards;
healthy behaviors and school activities during the 3 years of middle school tenure;
and
he/she must show the suitability for such recommendation via the Recommendation Council of the school where the student attended.
Also required is that, once accepted, the student must enter the accepting school. If the student is not accepted on recommendation, he/she has the right to submit an application anew.
Some private high schools make early determination on their final acceptance of applicants for those who submitted a single application to that particular school only. Such private high schools conduct early interviews around the end of Jan. Merit of this method is that your chances for acceptance may be bigger. This also requires that you must enter that school once accepted. You also need to pay tuitions immediately.

・Beginning of 3rd semester. Application form for public high school is distributed. Test fees: General 2,200 yen, Part-time 950 yen, Revenue stamp to be purchased at Hokuyo Bank.
・End of Jan.
・Private high schools determine Admission by Recommendation for those who were recommended and who submitted application only to a single private high school.
・(Private high school admission fees: 200,000 yen to 300,000 yen, plus tuitions 27,000 yen to 49,500 yen per month)
・Request for changing public high school application to be accepted. (Some requests for changing schools may not be accepted. Please confer to your home room teacher.
・Early Feb.
・Request for changing public high schools closes.
・Mid-Feb.
・Interview by high schools of the students who apply on the recommendation.
・Entrance Exam takes place for schedule Group A private high schools (17-18)
・Notifying the results of interview by public high schools - those who were not accepted on Recommendation to re-apply through general channel.
・End of Feb.
・Entrance Exam takes place for schedule Group B private high schools (20-21)
・Submission of re-application form
・Confirmation of acceptance by student for public high schools
・Early March
・Entrance Exam for public high school
・9th graders on special curriculum towards graduation
・Closing of submission of confirmation of acceptance form - reconfirm student's choice for future schooling

・10:00 a.m., Announcing the names of successful candidates for public high schools - final confirmation of entering high school per student - in case you decline the high school offer of acceptance, you need to submit a written resignation
・March 17
・Closing of application to Yuho High School - Public high school by Hokkaido Prefecture, run under Credit Unit system, offering general subjects course and office administration/information course. Persons who passed the public high school exam may not apply. Persons who failed and the persons who have not applied yet only can apply.
Note: Yuho High School also accepts students on Recommendation. Schedule for Admission by Recommendation is the same as for other public high schools
・March 18
・Closing of the application for Yuho Correspondence Course
・13:00 Announcing additional names of successful candidates for public high school. If the student cannot confirm his/her acceptance, acceptance by school will become null.
・End of March
・Yuho High School Exam for composition and Interview
・(Announcing the names of successful candidates at the very end of March)
・Additional Opening announced and application taken (around 25th)
・Interview for additional opening (around 27th)
・Announcing the names of successful candidates (28th)
