　1995年4月、「純粋」で「粋」な太鼓にと「鼓粋」と称し結成しました。鼓粋のレパートリー20曲はすべて鼓粋独自で作曲したもので、伝統的な和太鼓の響きを大切にするとともに、新しいサウンドヘのチャレンジを心がけながら創り出しました。

　神奈川県を中心に全国各地で日本太鼓の継承・普及に努め、生命の躍動そのままに純粋な心への響きを轟かせています。近年では、国内においては数々の賞を受賞し、又海外では、バリ島公演、ガーナ・モロッコ公演などを行ない、伝統的な和太鼓の素晴らしさを伝えながら、そこで出会った人達と感動を分かち合える喜びを感じています。

　In April 1995, Kosui was formed in Kanagawa Prefecture. The name came from the team's principle; to play Taiko with style and pure spirits. "Ko" means "taiko" and "sui" means "pure" or "stylish."

　They currently have 20 repertoires all written by themselves. Kosui keeps themselves challenged by incorporating modern style into traditional Japanese Taiko. They are motivated to popularize Taiko and to continue the Taiko culture to the next generations.

　Kosui gives performances throughout Japan, and recently, Kosui has been awarded with numerous prizes. They also went on international tours to Bali, Gana, and Morocco, having successfully made cultural exchanges through Taiko.

　

　1983年、未曽有の集中豪雨が島根県浜田地方を襲いました。それから約2年後復興へと市民の懸命の努力が実を結び、浜田が生まれ変わりました。1985年、この悲劇を再び繰り返すまいと、和太鼓の轟きの中に祈りを込め、希望と活気溢れる「石州浜田太鼓団」が誕生したのです。

　太鼓を中心に笛やほら貝を使用し、手拍子をもって演奏者の心をひとつに合わせ囃します。調子面白く、緩急よく、間断なく神楽歌を歌い、神々の魂を鎮め、神楽の斎場に参ずる人々の魂を奮い立たせて家内安全、国運隆昌を祈る民衆の太鼓として広く親しまれてきました。

　全国幾多の太鼓の中で、唯一和歌と舞いの所作がミックスされたこの太鼓は、特に近畿・出雲地方の暮らしおよび文化を「音」で表している点で日本の貴重な伝統芸能の一つです。

　In 1983, Hamada district in Shimane Prefecture was damaged by unusual heavy rainfall. After two years of people's great efforts, Hamada-city was reconstructed from the disaster. In the same year, Sekisyu Hamada Taiko, a kagura, a sacred Taiko music, was born with the hopes for the region to always be with full of life.

　In their performances, the team uses Taiko, flutes, and conch horns together with hand clapping to bind the spirits of all players. Kagura is sang without a break and it is believed to pacify the gods in Japanese shrines. It is also widely performed to wish for the well-being of the individual families as well as the prosperity of the nation.

　Among the many Taiko teams each having their own styles, Sekisyu Hamada Taiko is the only team which combines waka or Japanese poem and mai or Japanese dancing in their performances. It is also one of the valuable traditional performing arts representing culture of the Shimane region through Taiko.

　

　財団主催の「第4回総務大臣杯日本太鼓ジュニアコンクール」が去る3月24日福島県郡山市で、開催されました。32都道府県（出場246チーム・出場者3,046名）から選抜された高校生以下の38チームが出場して行われました。このコンクールで、鹿児島県の山川ツマベニ少年太鼓が優勝し、本日その演奏を披露することとなりました。

　山川ツマベニ少年太鼓は、1997年に結成され、現在、山川町内の小学1年生から高校生まで21名で活動しています。山川町は、薩摩半島の最南端に位置しています。この山川にある「山川港」は古来沖縄と密接な関係を結んできました。

　今晩演奏される「みなと山川」は波をけって漁や交易に出かける船をイメージすると共に沖縄との交流を重んじた山川港の姿をイメージしています。沖縄の郷土芸能「エイサー」も取り込まれています。

　Yamakawa Tsumabeni Shonen Taiko of Kagoshima Prefecture won the grand prize at the Fourth Nippon Taiko Junior Competition held in Fukushima Prefecture on 24 March, 2002. Thirty eight junior teams composed of members under the age of 18 were selected as finalists from 246 teams representing 3,046 young players from 32 prefectures. Yamakawa Tsumabeni Taiko s brisk movement and colorful expression was the most outstanding.

　Yamakawa Tsumabeni Shonen Taiko was formed in 1997, and it is composed of 21 members from Yamakawa-cho. Yamakawa-cho is the very south of Kagoshima Prefecture, situated south of Kyushu Island, the southern most of the four main islands of Japan. Yamakawa Port has been the gateway for traveling and cultural exchanges to and from Okinawa.

　Tonight's performance "Minato Yamakawa" depicts the image of fishermen sailing off to the island of Okinawa, and incorporates the eiser, a traditional Taiko music and dance from Okinawa.
