On October 1, 2002, NKK Corporation and Hitachi Zosen Corporation integrated their shipbuilding operations to begin a new era of efficiency and effectiveness as Universal Shipbuilding Corporation.

The large docks of Ariake Shipyard (Nagasu-machi, Kumamoto Pref.) and Tsu Shipyard (Mie Pref.) together with the modern manufacturing facilities of Maizuru Shipyard (Kyoto Pref.), Keihin Shipyard (Kanagawa Pref.) and Innoshima Shipyard (Hiroshima Pref.), uniquely position Universal Shipbuilding Corporation to satisfy diverse vessel requirements.
Ariake Shipyard
Ariake Shipyard, located in Nagasu-machi, Kumamoto Pref. and facing the Sea of Ariake, is one of the largest shipyards in the industry. The shipyard covers a sprawling 1,070,000m2 area. The two large docks 620 meters and 420 meters (85 meters wide and 14 meters deep) and equipped with a 700-ton Goliath crane each - easily accommodate VLCC and offshore structures.
Tsu Shipyard
This large shipyard is located on reclaimed land fronting Ise Bay in Tsu-shi, Mie Pref. Tsu Shipyard has a double-door dock that allows one a half large vessels to be built in one dock, and 200-ton and 700-ton Goliath cranes. Tsu Shipyard has built a large number of Capesize bulk carrier, Suezmax/Aframax tankers, and LNG and LPG gas carriers.
Maizuru Shipyard
The only large shipyard along the Sea of Japan coast, Maizuru Shipyard is extensively automated. This shipyard is the company's operations base for building large merchant ships such as Panamax ships, the repair and conversion base for naval ships, and the production base for defense equipment and systems and mechatronics.
Keihin Shipyard
Located in Yokohama, Keihin shipyard has long history in shipbuilding, ship repair and ship conversion. Keihin Shipyard builds minesweepers, patrol vessels, icebreakers, fishery research vessels, and ship designed for use on lakes.
Innoshima Shipyard
Innoshima Shipyard in Seto National Park is strategically located for efficient ship repair abd conversion-year-round the air is warm and there is very little precipitation. The Shipyard has the extensive experience and the specialist expertise called for to repair or convert any kind of naval ship of merchant ship.

Head Office and Imabari Shipyard
More than a century has passed since the shipyard was established in Imabari facing the Kurushima Strait, traditionally a key channel for marine transport. Under the company's business philosophy of"Let's Grow with Shipowners," the shipyard annexed to the head office has lived up to Imabari's traditions all the time when humans are involved with the sea, and been dedicated to the improvement of existing and the development of new technologies as the core of a shipbuilding group having constructed more than 1,800 vessels. Equipped with facilities for the construction of ships up to the 30,000 ton class, this yard contributes to the development of the world economy by mainly building handy size bulk carriers and ro/ro cargo ships and thereby playing its due part in serving marine transport.

Marugame Headquarters
The Marugame Headquarters is trying all the time to develop ships well fitting the transportation system of the maritime age with its thorough production management system and advanced design technology. lt has two building docks for 150,000 ton and 100,000 ton classes, respectively. Flexibly meeting all conceivable needs of clients, the yard can build a great variety of vessels including Aframax tankers, PCCs with capacities for 6,000 vehicles each and Panamax bulk carriers. Capitalizing on its advanced technology and rich experience, it keeps on supplying highly economical and safe vessels to the mercantile marine worldwide.

Saijo Shipyard
Saijo Shipyard is equipped with state-of-the-art machines including NC automatic cutters and automatic longitudinal welding machines. Provided with two cranes each with an 800 ton lifting capacity, the biggest in Japan, the yard's building dock is the most up-to-date and best equipped in the world, having built VLCCs and 280,000 ton class ore carriers and capable of constructing even larger vessels, up to the 500,000 ton class. Saijo Shipyard is building such vessels to facilitate ever quicker, more massive, more efficient and safer marine transport to meet the increasingly diversified needs of the 21st century.

Koyo Dockyard Co., Ltd.
Koyo is pursuing new opportunities in the next generation of maritime activities in the world, while meeting with its technology the increasingly diversified needs of clients by actively installing state-of-the-art equipment including automatic welding machines. The yard has many remarkable facilities including two large building docks for the construction of up to 250,000 class vessels and two repair docks adaptable to ships of many different sizes, from very large to small. It has built all kinds of vessels including tankers and cargo ships. More recently, it built container ships of the 6,000 TEU class, and is working on a plan to develop and build LNG carriers. Its repair docks can promptly meet a variety of needs including hull elongation, other conversion assignments and remodeling of passenger ships, thereby winning firm trust of the clients.

Hashizo Ltd.
Hashizo has three dry docks at its head office-annexed yard and one at the Oshima works, all for repair use.
