The New Hope Fellowship Program
SYLFF Program:
The objective of the program is to support the education of graduate students and to assist graduate researchers and young scholars with high potential for future leadership in international affairs. Students enrolled in the following programs are eligible to apply: international law, international economics, international business administration, international relations, administrative management, and Southeast Asia studies.
Selection Process:
SYLFF fellowships are announced in the university newsletter; information is also circulated directly to the relevant departments and to graduate students in person. Three types of fellowships are available: 1) SYLFF fellowships, 2) Advanced Studies Programs at domestic institutions, and 3) Scientific Research Programs. Selection procedures vary by type of fellowship. Fellowships are usually for US$235-480. One hundred fifty-six (156) students received SYLFF fellowships to date.

SYLFF Program:
The objective of the program is to support the education of graduate students who show high potential for future leadership in international affairs. The program targets students enrolled in the following: 1) Socio-Economic Policy Program, 2) Culture and Minority Program, and 3) City and State Program .
Selection Process:
SYLFF fellowships are announced through the two research schools that form the basis of the Utrecht-SYLFF program: The Netherlands School for Advanced Studies (AWSB), and The Netherlands Graduate School of Housing and Urban Research (NETHUR). Selection is conducted by a committee comprised of the university president, four representatives of the two research schools and three external advisors from other Dutch universities who supervise the development and operation of the program. Fellowships are usually for US$15,000. In addition to fellowships, travel grants and research grants amounting to US$500, respectively, are also provided.
