The Young Leaders Fellowship Fund Program
 
SYLFF Program:
The objective of the program is to support the education of graduate students and to assist graduate researchers and young scholars with high potential for future leadership in international affairs in their research activities at the university. Fellowships are granted to students in the following programs: economics (consisting of macroeconomics and regional economics), management, law, environmental protection, and resource conservation.
 
SYLFF Program:
Applicants submit applications to their colleges which screen and forward recommended applicants to the SYLFF Steering Committee. Selection is based on the following criteria: academic achievement, published work, foreign language ability, computer skills, as well as creativity and feasibility of the proposal. Interviews are conducted when necessary. Fellowships are usually US$300-800 for study within China, and US$5,500-11,000 for study abroad. More than four hundred (400) fellowships have been awarded to date.

The Humanities and Social Science Program of Inner Mongolia University
 
SYLFF Program:
The objectives of the program are to support education of graduate students and to assist graduate researchers and young scholars with high potential for future leadership in international affairs. Students and young scholars engaged in the study and research of regional development of Inner Mongolia and international relations with a special emphasis on East Asia are eligible to apply.
 
Selection Process:
Applicants for fellowships submit applications to their departments who conduct initial screening. Final decisions are made by the university's steering committee. Selection is based on the applicants' character, academic excellence, foreign language ability, published work, and area of specialization. Fellowships are usually for US$490. Fellowship recipients, both master's and doctoral degree candidates are required to remain at the university to teach for a period of at least five years.
