The Ryoichi Sasakawa Young Leaders Program
SYLFF Program:
The program supports the education of graduate students with high potential for future leadership. Students enrolled in master's programs in geography, European economics, and financial economics, are eligible to apply.
Selection Process:
Announcements of the program are handled by the international office; information is forwarded to all of the faculties. Applicants submit their applications to the director of their respective programs, who then, having pre-screened the applications, forwards them to the university's steering committee. Selection is based on the following criteria: academic excellence, quality of the proposal, interest in continuing an academic career after obtaining a graduate degree, and personal qualities including leadership potential. Fellowships are usually for US$3,800 for study in the country, and US$4,500 for study abroad. To date twenty (20) fellowships have been awarded.

The Sasakawa Fellowship Program of the University of Athens
SYLFF Program:
The objective of the program is to support the education of graduate students with high potential for future leadership in international affairs. Students enrolled in a wide range of courses in law, economics, politics, sociology, ethnology, history, archeology, literature, language, philosophy, psychology, education, theology, sports science, music studies, theater studies, and mass media, are eligible to apply.
Selection Process:
Each of the eligible departments at the university receives a prescribed amount to be used for fellowships. Each department then convenes a committee which decides on the number of fellowships. Fellowships are for one year. To date thirty-two (32) fellowships have been awarded.
