The Ryoichi Sasakawa Young Leaders Program
SYLFF Program:
The program supports the education of graduate students with high potential for future leadership. It covers graduate students in anthropology, sociology, Middle East studies, economics, political science and other academic disciplines in the social sciences and humanities.
Selection Process:
Each year a brochure is published containing information about the SYLFF fellowships. After screening by the appropriate department and school and by the office of graduate studies and research, the final decision is made by the university's steering committee according to the following criteria: academic record, extra-curricular activities, language ability, written essay, recommendations, and interview. The fellowships usually include: tuition and fees, US$250 book allowance, and stipend toward living expenses amounting to US$1,600 for Egyptians and US$3,600 for non-Egyptians. Extensive follow-up support is provided to all SYLFF fellows.
