Name of SYLFF Program:
The Sasakawa Young Leaders Program
SYLFF Program:
Fellowships are awarded to graduate students with high potential for future leadership in international affairs, in public life, as well as in private enterprise. Subjects supported include politics, law, international business, economics, history, and regional studies. The program also provides fellowships to students engaged in research activities.
Selection Process:
Fellowships are announced in the School's annual bulletin which is distributed worldwide. SYLFF fellowships are the most generous and prestigious fellowships available at The Fletcher School (usually granted to the top 3 or 4 rated students). Selection is based on academic achievement, experience and achievement in non-academic matters, commitment to study and career in international affairs, as well as outstanding personal qualities such as unusual initiative, industry, and creativity. Fellowships amount to US$16,000-17,000 and are usually for one year, renewable for a second year. Eighty-three (83) fellowships have been awarded to date.
