The Ministry of Transport and Communications
Mission
The Ministry of Transport and Communications is responsible for the development of national infrastructure related to transportation, communication and meteorology with the objectives of trying to achieve sufficiency, modernity and proper standard.
All these qualities must be conductive to the development of national economy and social order. The ministry's target is to be effective and competitive in the world market.
Office of the Permanent Secretary
Mission
The office of Permanent Secretary is charged with the duty and responsibility in the general operation, laying down policy, following up, checking and evaluating the various projects and analyzing and conducting research on the economic aspect of transportation and communication. This is done by serving as the center of cooperation of the agencies under the Ministry of Transport and Communications.
Harbour Department
Mission
The Harbour Department is responsible for controlling and administering water transport such as to control and inspect navigation, water transport, to dredge navigation channels, register ships, train seamen in accordance with the standards set by the International Maritime Organization, improve and maintain the water channels or the water ways in general so that they can be conveniently used for water transport since they are the public transportation channels. In conclusion HD's responsibilities also include facilitating maritime navigation and all water transports on various routes
Port Authority of Thailand
Mission
Port Authority of Thailand (PAT) has the major responsibilities of providing services to ships and cargoes by concentrating on the efficiency and convenience for services users with the collection of appropriate fees at Bangkok Port and the Commercial Port at Leam Chabang.
