3. This China network is formed by all WMU Sasakawa fellows in China. All activities will be subject to the China WMU Alumini Association
4. The network coordinators are selected on a voluntary basis, subject to the following considerations:
i. Representing different regions in China, namely North China, South China, East China, Yangtze river area, Hong Kong and Macao.
ii. Representing different sectors, namely Ministry of Communications and Maritime Safety Administrations in China, maritime institutions, and the industry
The roles of the coordinators are:
i. liasing SOF, fellows in China and other regional networks
ii. coordinating activities amongst fellows in China, as well as activities with other regional networks and those organised by SOF.
iii. Representing fellows in China where a regional decision is requested, where applicable.

6. The objectives of China WMU Sasakawa Fellow Network are
i. to establish and maintain a direct and constant link between Chinese fellows with SOF, amongst fellows in China, and the link with other networks
ii. to set up and update a Chinese WMU Sasakawa fellows database
iii. to provide a forum for discussion of issues of common interests among various interests
iv. to foster a mechanism for all fellows to exchange information, views of point, and seek possibility of cooperation
v. to work towards academic, professional and career-wise advancement of all fellows
7. Any decisions will be made by voting by all fellows and adopted subject to simple majority and tacit acceptance.
8. The coordinators will be responsible for updating the network member contact list. All fellows, both graduates and present students are to report to the coordinators on changes in position, workplace, and so on.
9. The discussion of issues to be addressed in the future has led to the following:
i. a preliminary action plan prioritizing the eminent issues to be completed by the end year 2001
ii. to set up a homepage for Chinese WMU Sasakawa-sponsored fellows
iii. to prepare a plenary meeting at the first quarter of next year
