In Figure 7-1, the reference container packed with dangerous liquids is stowed on the hatchway cover at port side and sensitive vertical lines at port side under deck in one bay should be segregated. In Figure 7-2, the reference container is stowed out of sensitive vertical lines under deck and segregation is not required for on deck stowage. In Figure 7-3, the reference container is stowed in a sensitive vertical line under deck and containers packed with dangerous liquids should not be stowed in vertical lines in one bay on hatchway covers corresponding to the reference container.

6.7 Separated by a complete compartment or hold from .3 - Closed versus Closed or Closed versus Open

The segregation requirements for "Separated by a complete compartment or hold from .3 - Closed versus Closed or Closed versus Open" are governed by Table 7. The segregation requirement is the same as that for "Separated from .2 - Open versus Open" and Figures 7-1 to 7-3 are examples of the segregation.

6.8 Separated by a complete compartment or hold from .3 - Open versus Open

The segregation requirements for "Separated by a complete compartment or hold from .3 - Open versus Open" are governed by Table 8. Figures 8-1 and 8-2 are examples of the segregation.

In Figure 8-1, the reference container packed with dangerous liquids is stowed on the hatchway cover at port side and sensitive vertical lines at port side under deck in one bay should be segregated. In Figure 8-2, the reference container is stowed out of sensitive vertical lines under deck and segregation is not required for on deck stowage.

6.9 Separated longitudinally by an intervening completed compartment or hold from .4

The segregation requirements for " Separated longitudinally by an intervening completed compartment or hold from .4" are governed by Table 9 and Table 10. When these requirements are applied, dangerous goods should be segregated longitudinally. Therefore, the gaps between hatchway covers do not affect the segregation of this category.

7 Consideration of stowage plan based on the principles

The basic principles proposed by us are as follows:

(1) A container packed with dangerous liquids should not be stowed on a hatchway cover having a clear gap, except in vertical lines at starboard and port ends on deck, unless the cargo hold under the hatchway cover complies with the requirements applicable for the dangerous goods of the relevant class including subsidiary risks and flash point in regulation 54 in chapter II-2 of SOLAS Convention 1974, as amended;

(2) A container packed with dangerous goods, including dangerous liquids, can be stowed in vertical lines not on hatchway covers regardless of the specification of the cargo hold;
