(3) When a reference container packed with dangerous liquids is stowed on a hatchway cover and "not in the same vertical line unless segregated by a deck" is required for a container packed with incompatible goods, the container packed with incompatible goods should not be stowed in relevant sensitive vertical lines in the cargo hold; and

(4) When a reference container is stowed in a sensitive vertical line under deck and "not in the same vertical line unless segregated by a deck" Is required for a container packed with incompatible goods, the container packed with incompatible goods should not be stowed in relevant sensitive vertical lines on hatchway covers.

These principles should be applied in addition to the stowage and segregation requirements for conventional container ships with weatherproof hatchway covers.

In actual planning of stowage, principles (3) and (4) can be summarized into the following principle:

(3) and (4) A container packed with dangerous goods should not be stowed in sensitive vertical lines under deck, basically.

When a container packed with dangerous goods is stowed in a sensitive vertical line under deck, containers packed with incompatible solids or gases should not be stowed in sensitive vertical lines on deck, as shown in Figure 1-6 - left, and containers packed with incompatible dangerous liquids should not be stowed on the hatchway covers adjacent to the gap, as shown in Figure 1-6 - right.

8 Conclusion

In this report, we proposed the principles of on deck stowage and segregation of containers packed with dangerous goods, especially dangerous liquids, on container ships with partially weatherproof hatchway covers, to provide a basis for discussion on this issue. The principles for segregation are illustrated with examples. It is our great pleasure that this report will contribute to the discussion on this issue at DSC Sub-committee.
