Activity of NTP was completely started also in the laboratory department in 1997 and afterwards. The entire rate of Recovery rate and the rates of smear (-)/culture (+) and contamination rates obtained good results favorably every year.

Especially in last year (1990), Recovery rate showed good results of 90.6%. This may be the result of the instruction supervisor of the short period by 2 times of Ms. Fujiki.

However, all the results of this year were getting worse, especially the Recovery rate fell even to 81.0%, and the rate of contamination rose even from 2.9% to 13.0%.

Furthermore, if cultivation of NTC is dysgonic (inferior-in-strength) growth, it is pointed out by Ms. Fujiki. Now, culture examination holds some problems.

(2) Problem

These problems can be considered.

1. The problem of the temperature of incubator.

2. The problem of a culture medium

3. The problem of the cultivation method

4. The problem of sample preservation

What was investigated and understood about the above problems in these four months is reported.
