MARINA MANAGEMENT GUIDELINES

 

1.1 TRAINING PLAN FOR STAFF AND EMPLOYEES

 

MANAGEMENT OBJECTIVES

 

Ensure that Marina management and Marina staff, both permanent and casual, are trained in all facets of Marina operations. with specific reference to:-

 

◆Safety.

◆Hazard prevention.

◆Fuel spillage.

◆Sewage and pollution.

◆Water quality.

◆Community amenities.

◆Marina user regulations.

◆State Marine Authority regulations.

 

Please refer to Appendix 1, sample document on staff training. Attention is drawn to the responsibility of Association Members to be aware of current State legislation directed at the management and technical operation of Marinas, including:-

 

◆Insurance.

◆Public liability.

◆Marina liability.

◆Licences that may be required by WORKCOVER AUTHORITY including:

・appropriate standard of safety with all electrical facilities;

・licensed premises;

・storage of dangerous goods;

・certified fire fighting equipment:

・Waterways authority procedures;

・Marina vessels must have commercial registration and comply with safety standards;

・Marina staff that drive vessels must have appropriate licenses.

 

1.2 SAFETY PROCEDURES

 

MANAGEMENT OBLIGATIONS

 

1.2.1 Provide for tile safety and protection of all persons utilising the Marina and its facilities, as well as for the protection of Marina property and the property of Marina patrons.

 

1.2.2 Provide adequate and clearly defined sign-posting within the Marina concerning issues of safety.

 

1.2.3 Draw attention to patrons that the Marina is a MARINE ENVIRONMENT.

 

1.2.4 Provide appropriate rescue equipment at suitable locations such as rescue buoys or quoits with safety lines attached.

 

1.2.5 Require all Marina users to observe the rules and regulations of the State Marine Authority for the movement of vessels.

 

1.2.6 Provide for hose reels and other fire fighting equipment to be clearly marked, restricting the usage to fire fighting only.
