PLAN OF MANAGEMENT

A MODEL FOR MARINAS

This Plan of Management has been prepared by the Marina Association of NSW. a division of the Boating Industry Association of NSW.

The Plan of Management will provide guidelines for environmental outcomes that can be achieved on an industry-wide basis. It should be read in conjunction with the Industry's Code of Practice, published by the Boating Industry Association of NSW and is presented within the spirit of Best Management Practices under the 1995 Environmental Protection Authorities Guidelines for private and commercial marinas and slipways.

The Plan of Management and the BIA Code of Practice demonstrates members' concern for environmental issues. Recreational boating facilities and services are not, in themselves, a significant source of pollution. Effective and practical management procedures will mitigate any harmful environmental effects.

These guidelines will assist in the preparation of site specific plans of management for Marinas to control and manage the Marinas natural, built and recreational resources, as well as regulations for patron's use of the Marina's facilities.

This document will be regularly reviewed and remains a copyright document of the Boating Industry Association of NSW.

The Marina Plan of Management has been divided into two sections:-

SECTION 1: MARINA MANAGEMENT GUIDELINES

SECTION 2: REGULATIONS FOR MARINA USAGE BY CLIENTS AND VISITORS
