SHONAN MARU Fishing Training Vessel
The fishing training vessel SHONAN MARU for Misaki Fishery High School ordered by Kanagawa Prefecture was completed on February 28, 1999 at Niigata Shipyard of Niigata Engineering Co., Ltd. This vessel has been designed in consideration of tuna fishing training and safe navigation for cadets and her accommodation spaces are very comfortable for educational life on board.
Features
1. Bulbous bow, cruiser stern and stern bulb are effective for good seaworthiness.
2. Low speed revolutions for large diameter propeller with skewed blades keeps vibration at low level.
3. The rules of SOLAS, GMDSS, MARPOL and U.S. Coast Guard have been complied with for safe navigation and anti-pollution.
4. Anti-rolling tank is effective for comfortable navigation.
5. The SHONAN MARU is equipped with a variety of marine use equipment, which has very modern functions in educational training for fisheries, navigation, engine room mechanic, radio operation and also oceanographic research for fisheries education for the 21st Century.
