WORK VESSELS

TSD SINDHURAJ 200 m3 Trailing Suction Hopper Dredger

Ishikawajima Ship & Chemical Plant Co., Ltd. (ISC) delivered TSD SINDHURAJ (literally king of the sea), a 200 m3 trailing suction hopper dredger on March 1999, which was donated by the Japanese Government to the Indian Government as a grant-in-aid in the fishery sector for fiscal 1998.

The work vessel is now used to remove accumulated mud and sand from bottoms of ports and waterways for rehabilitation of small fishery ports, and helping to develop the small-scale fishery in India. Incidentally, this was the first time that the dredger of this type was donated under a grant-in-aid program provided by Japan.

Features

1. The dredger of a trailing suction hopper type is most suitable for removal of mud and sand accumulation on the bottom of ports.

2. For operations at small fishery ports, a shallow draft is required for the dredger with only 2.0 m draught.

3. Despite the small size, the dredger has advanced equipment and dredging operation system like those in-stalled on larger dredgers.

4. The vessel, which is classed for coasting service, is comparable to ocean going vessels since it is provided with the CO2 total flooding system, fire detection system, rescue boats, and navigational equipment.

5. The dredging system is designed to permit remote control from the wheelhouse by the operator who can operate through panoramic window vision.
