A 47,100-dwt bulk carrier TONGHAI was built at Sakaide Works of Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd., and delivered to COSCO Bulk Carrier Co., Ltd. in January 1999.
Features
1. The ship is a flush decker with forecastle and has five cargo holds with steel watertight hatch covers. Four 25 LT deck cranes provided on the center line between hatch covers enable cargo handling at the port without cargo handling facilities.
2. The ship is designed to carry grain, coal, ores, packaged lumber and steel products (hot coil).
3. Provision of portable stanchion on the ship's side enables packaged lumber to be loaded up to abt. 7 m on upper deck (abt. 4.5 m on hatch covers)
