1. Occurrence of Maritime Disasters
(1) Oil Spill Accidents
In 1999, 176 cases of oil spill accidents occurred in which prevention and removal operations were implemented by JCG. A look at oil spill accidents in terms of different vessel type reveals that cargo ships account for a large portion of the total at 19% with 34 cases (refer to Diagram 9).
