2. Management of "Paradise for Recreational Boats" and Cooperation With Maritime Events
JCG has been managing "Paradise for Recreational Boats" since 1988 as one set of measures contributing to the sound growth of maritime recreation by ensuring maritime recreational safety.
At the event, which takes place on national holidays and weekends with little traffic of commercial vessels, a specified area within the port in the vicinity of a big city and its suburbs is temporarily opened to small recreational vessels, such as small yachts, sail-boards and row boats, securing safety by restrictions on navigation and anchorage of other vessels.
II Strengthening of the Rescue System for Maritime Recreation
1. Strengthening of the Rescue System With Patrol Vessels, Craft and Aircraft
In order to conduct swift rescue operations, etc., in the sea areas bustling with maritime recreation activity, JCG has been implementing patrol activities with patrol vessels and craft. JCG is striving to strengthen its rescue systems, particularly in terms of saving lives in coastal areas, where accidents are particularly prone to occur, by more effectively stationing patrol vessels and craft mindful of the times and waters in which maritime recreation activities thrive; JCG is also making the best use of the speed, search and lifting rescue capabilities, etc., of its helicopters.
