(1) Development of new model
Engines developed in fiscal 1999 by Yanmar is 6NB165-EN type engine in a marine engine. And Yanmar has developed two new technologies, one is the skill of satisfying the conditions of IMO/NOx regulation, the other is the technology of "SAVETEN" which realizes both less NOx emissions and lower specific fuel consumption.
1) 6NB165-EN type engine
This is the high output, excellent reliability and durability engine which was developed for marine use, and realizes good condition of combustion with wide range of load by using of individual high pressure fuel injection pump for each cylinder and the most suitable turbocharger with inter-cooler. This excellent reliability and durability has been produced by using of a high stiffened cylinder block, a large bore crank shaft, a ductile cast iron piston which has abrasion hardness and a tuftride coating cylinder liner. Table 2.4.14-1 and Fig.2.4.14-1 indicate the principal particulars and the general view of the engine, respectively.
2) Development of the technology, "SAVETEN" Yanmar has developed the technology of "SAVETEN" which realizes both less NOx emissions and lower specific fuel consumption. This technology includes the constant pressure combustion technique which realize both lower specific fuel consumption and less NOx emissions without increase of maximum combustion pressure and fuel injection pressure, and the better suction and exhaust work technique by the most suitable suction and exhaust system, like Fig.2.4.14-2.
