The UEC68LSE type engine which is shown at Fig.2.4. 13-2 and the principal particulars are shown in Table 2.4.13, was developed in 1999, as the continuation of developing UEC52LSE type, new series of UEC-LSE type after UEC-LS II series, in 1998. This engine has the high output and low fuel consumption specification which the output is 2,940kW/cyl., the brake mean effective pressure is 19.0 bar, and the specific fuel consumption is 165g/kWh, same as UEC52LSE type. And MHI investigates simpler and better compact in structure and easy maintenance than former engines by this engine. This engine follows actual good results of LS II series include piston ring, cylinder liner, etc., so this is the excellent reliable engine secured by the latest analyzing technology.
