2.4.11 Makita Corporation

(1) Development of new model

The first engine of Makita-Mitsui-MAN-B&W 6S42MC type was completed, and obtained the verification for NOx emission EIAPP through the judgement of Nippon Kaiji Kyokai. The performance data are shown as follows:

2.4.12 Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding Co.,Ltd.

(1) Development of new model

The Mitsui MAN B&W 12K50MC-S type engine (cylinder bore: 500mm, piston stroke: 1,370mm, brake mean effective pressure: 18 bar, number of cylinders: 12, output: 16,100kW (21,889 PS) and engine speed: 166.7 rpm) which is a generator engine of the 60 MW generating barge shipping for Srilanka was completed at Tamano Works of the company in March, 1999. Four same engines include this one are on board of the generating barge.

(2) Annual results of manufacture

The total product power of Mitsui MAN B&W series engine has reached to 35 million PS in December, 1999, since beginning to manufacture.

1) Marine diesel engines (over 100 PS)

・Low-speed diesel engines: 87 sets, 989,890kW (1,345,850 PS),

・Medium-speed diesel engines: l set, 10,000kW (13,600 PS).

2) The Mitsui-MAN B&W NA turbo chargers are mounted on S,K,L-MC/MC-C type engines, and 68 sets were manufactured in 1999. The models of production are six types, including NA48/T08 NA48/S, NA57/TM8, NA57/T09, NA70/T07 and NA70/09.

 

2.4.13 Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd.

(1) Development of new model

MHI has completed the series of UEC-LS II type engine which are provided from large size of UEC85LS II type (cylinder bore: 85cm) to small size of UEC33LS II type (cylinder bore: 33cm) since the development of UEC75LS II type in 1987. The latest type of UEC-LS II series engines is UEC37LS II type which is shown at Fig.2.4.13-1. The first engine of 6 UEC37LS II type was ordered at Akasaka Diesels Limited which is the licensee of MHI. This engine has been carried out after the certification tests of various reliability and performance during March and April, 2000.
