(4) Study on the harmful exhaust gas components such as N2O

The investigations of influences to N2O which is one of harmful components related to the green-house effect and PM from the load tests by four kinds of fuels, two different heavy fuel oils, diesel fuel oil and blended diesel fuel oil with DBDS for settled sulfur content were operated. As a result, it was confirmed that the concentration of N2O seems affected by not only the sulfur content in fuels but aromatic contents. And the difference of PM emission by each fuel is not so much, but it can be distinguished from EPMA method.

 

2.4 Development and Production by Domestic Manufacturers

2.4.1 IMEX Co., Ltd.

(1) Development of new model

There are no new series, but the fourth main engine of a cement carrier which operate two turbo chargers and one shaft generator by a special elongated shaft from the side of PTO (Power Take Off) was ordered, since the first type of 1991 which lead other makers. And the 6S42MC type diesel engine was confirmed satisfaction of IMO/NOx regulation as a parent engine in the presence of Nippon Kaiji Kyokai.

2.4.2 Akasaka Diesels Limited

(1) Development of new model

1) New UEC engine

The first model of 6UEC60LS II type engine which is a series of 60LS II type, engine which is a series of 60LS II type, estimated as high reliability and economical for marine use, was completed and shipped. 8UEC60LS type engine and 6UEC37LS II type engine which is developing new series of type are set to plan and manufacturing. The outline of 6UEC60LS II type engine is shown as Fig.2.4.2-1.
