Fig.16: Nozzle ring (left) and turbine (right) of a TPL85-B after about 3,000 operating hours
Due to the excellent service experiences the required inspection interval for the bearings and the turbine on TPL..-B has been enhanced to 14,000 + 18,000 hours to reduce operating costs.
4. CONCLUSION
The TPL..-B is a state-of-the-art turbocharger, developed especially for two-stroke applications. A thorough analysis of market requirements and application of the latest advances in computing fluid dynamics and mechanical behaviour have led to a new product designed to exploit the potential offered by modern two-stoke engine technology. With respect to efficiency and specific volume flow, the TPL..-B turbocharger offers the most modern and advanced turbocharging technology available on the market today.
A comprehensive test procedure, plus field experience with the TPL concept, proves the reliability and robustness of the new turbocharger series. Field experiences to date are successfully demonstrating the benefits of the new TPL..-B turbocharger and justify the trust our customers place in the new turbocharger.
