2.2.3 BOG Treatment System of GIDE propulsion
Two BOG injection compressors of the electric motor driven reciprocating type, are installed to pressurize the BOG up to the pressure required by GIDE. Capacity control is performed by combination of variable speed motor and automatic suction valve unloaders.
The gas supply system for GIDE's ventilation and gas purge lines is shown in Fig.3. The high pressure gas supply pipes are double walled, with the outer jacket designed to prevent gas outflow to the engine room in the event of a rupture of the inner gas pipe. The intervening space, including the space around valves, flange connections, etc. is provided with a dedicated mechanical ventilation system. The pressure in the space is maintained below that of the engine room.
3. COMPARISON EN ALTERNATIVE PROPULSION SYSTEMS
Below, some alternative propulsion systems for the next generation LNG carriers are considered and compared with the conventional steam turbine plant and the GIDE propulsion.
