Yakamochi is having a bad dream in which he stands bewildered in the form of a bronze statue in front of JR Takaoka Station. Hanishi shakes him gently. He wakes up to find himself lying with his head on her lap on a boat rocking on Fuseno-Mizuumi. Hanishi is feasting her eyes on the plum blossoms, unaware of his dream. Now that he has seen the future in his dream, he realizes that struggles for power are foolish and that human life is ephemeral, while art is eternal. He also realizes how invaluable his life amidst the beautiful nature in Etchu is.He writes "An Ode to Mt. Tateyama," giving thanks to the muse. He says to himself, "I won't worry more about the political situation of the capital. I'll devote myself to composing poems."
The stage echoes with orchestral music. Nymps dance beautifully, praising nature,
Now the dream play encompassing Etchu's 1250 years of history has come to an end and Kojo Park vanishes into the blackness of the night.
