3. "Swallow air. " She swivels her hand without opening it.

 

4. "Open your mouth at once." She spreads her hand forcibly, and says "Bah" at the same time. Here the actions 3 and 4 should occur as one unit. You should not take in air two or three times successively, but try again and again to phonate on one air intake whether you can produce a sound or not. Keep practicing without haste, relaxing all parts of your body until you can produce voice.

 

As it is not clear externally whether air has been swallowed or not, it is necessary for an instructor to put his finger sometimes on the pupil's neck to ascertain the pass of air.
