(5) Inhalation

・ First expel air. As with injection, inhale as much air as possible through the tracheostoma. When fresh air reaches to the bottom of the lungs, it expands the diaphragm downward.

・ The chest also simultaneously expands, extending the muscles of the cervicoesophagus and making the esophageal pressure negative --exactly the right time to inhale air into the esophagus.

・ Air can be inhaled through the nose and/or the mouth. Try the three following ways and choose the easiest, remembering that the action necessary for esophageal vocalization, from air intake to voice production, should be synchronized with breathing from the tracheostoma.
