11 Add constitution amendments agreed at AGM3 into the 'official' copy of the AMETIAP constitution

 

The Constitution, amended as agreed at AGM3, is in AGM4/3/1 Att A.

 

12 Utilise Garrott and Garrott as auditors for the current financial year

 

The audit report by Garrott and Garrott for the year ended 30 June is in AGM4/3/3 Att A.

 

13 Membership

 

- increase ordinary members to over 45

- increase associate members to at least 8

- recruit business members

The number of ordinary members of AMETIAP is now 47, with another nine institutions expressing interest in joining. Despite regular marketing of the organisation the number of associate members is 5, of which only 2 are paid up. There are no business members and, at this stage in the development of AMETIAP, recruitment of business members is unlikely.

 

14 Activities

 

- formulate further project proposals

- identify further funding and resource sources

- strengthen links with

・relevant international, regional and national maritime/shipping organisations

・funding agencies

Further project proposals have been formulated and included in the draft proposed IMO-AMETIAP Memorandum of Agreement, is in AGM4/3/1 Att B.

IMO has funded two IMO-AMETIAP workshops, which have contributed to AMETIAP funds; the Nippon Foundation has contributed to the funding resources for the '99 Conference/AGM.

The strengthening links with the international and regional agencies and peak bodies IMO, ILO, ISF, ITF, ESCAP, CSCAP and with the ASF and JSA, will enable access to substantial sources of knowledge, skills and possibly funds for joint projects.

Once AMETIAP has established a record of beneficial activities in the region, approaches will be made to the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank, as well as to other funding agencies.

 

15 Invite MARINA and CHED of the Philippines to become associate members

 

An oral invitation was extended to the Administrator of MARINA during a meeting in early November and written invitations have been sent to MARINA and CHED.
