4. Matters arising from the 3rd AGM
Joint AMETIAP/IMO Workshop
The EXCO agreed the workshop should be conducted in Sigapore in early January 1999. An outline program to be provided by AMC to Singapore Polytechnic by Friday 30 October 1998. It was also agreed that Singapore Polytechnic would be responsible for arrangements in Singapore, AMC and Singapore Polytechnic would be responsible for academic content, and the EXECSEC would be responsible for administrative matters.

Annual Conference
The EXCO agreed that the annual conference needs to be conducted in a more rigorous manner. To this end it was agreed to establish a Papers Committee comprising Hong Kong Polytechnic University (Kevin Cullinane) and two others to be determined by Kevin Cullinane. The objective of the Papers Committee is to raise the standards of papers. Additionally, it was agreed that there would be less papers but of higher standards. The general format of 50% papers and 50% workshops will be retained for the next annual conference.
The general theme for the 1999 annual conference will be:
"Enhancing the Quality of MET Teaching and Administration".
Issues that could be considered as sub-themes included:
・Management of quality
・QA in MET
・Accreditation as a quality process
・Implementation of quality processes/procedures
・Professionalism and Ethics
・Customer service in MET
As an incentive it was agreed that there would be a 'Best Paper Award' which would be awarded after presentation of the conference papers was completed.

Other Matters Arising
It was agreed that all other outstanding matters from the 3rd AGM should be transferred to the 1999 Workplan for Action.

5. 1999 Workplan
It was agreed the Secretary (AMC) would collate all outstanding matters from EXCO4/98, EXCO5/98, 3rd AGM and Conference workshops into a 1999 Workplan. The workplan will then be circulated to the EXCO and EXECSEC for comment by the end of November 1998.
