ザルツブルグ出身。1971年以来ウィーン音楽大学教授、1984年弦楽部門の部長就任後、同大学副部長となり、1992年〜1996年同大学学長を勤める。ヨーロッパ各国、北アメリカ、アジア各国で演奏活動を行う。
彼のマスタークラスやゼミナールには多くの学生が集まるとともに、ヴァイオリンや室内楽の著名なコンクールの審査委員を勤める。
また、ウィーンのフリッツ・クライスラー国際コンクール会長を勤める。1990年プラハ・ウィーン・ブダペストでの国際夏期アカデミーを設立し、その役員を勤める。1996年以降、ヨーロッパ弦楽指導者協会のオーストリア本部会長。
Prof. Michael FRISCHENSCHIAGER is a soloist, chamber musician and violin instructor form Salzburg. Since 1971 he is a Professor at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. In 1984 he became chair of the string department, in 1989 Vice-chancellor of the University of Music, and served as its Chancellor from 1992 to 1996. He has concert performances in almost all European countries, in North America and Asia. He is in great demand worldwide as a teacher for master-classes and seminars as well as a jury member of renowned violin and chamber music competitions. Since 1989 he is President of the International Fritz Kreisler Competition in Vienna. He founded the International Summer Academy Prague-Vienna-Budapest in 1990 and has been its director since. Since 1996 he is President of the European String Teachers Association in Austria (ESTA).

1962年オーストラリアのA.B.Cコンクールで1位入賞を果した後、渡米。これまでリチャード・ゴールドナー、ヨゼフ・ギンゴールド、ヘンリク・シェリングの各氏に師事。ヨーロッパで活動後、アメリカ・ピッツバーグのデュークエンス大学、後に西海岸の西ワシントン大学の教授に就任。
ウィーン・ヴァイオリン国際コンクールに入賞。フィラデルフィァのエンマ・フェルデマン賞を獲得。これまでに三つの著名なピアノトリオのメンバーとして演奏してきた。1960代はラズロ・ヴァルガ氏、イストヴァン・ナーダス氏とトリオ・コンチェルタンテを結成し、1970年代はパトリシア・バール氏、フリッツ・マッグ氏とトリオを結成。最近ではカスリン・セルビー氏、ミハエル・ゴールドシラーガー氏との3名でオーストラリア・マクワイヤー・トリオを結成している。
1980年に帰豪し、現在シドニー音学院及びキャンベラ音学院の弦楽部長。
Prof. Charmian GADD was born in Australia and graduated from the Sydney Conservatorium in 1960. She won her country's top award, the A.B.C. Competition in 1962 and went to the U.S.A to study. Her main teachers were Richard Goldner, Josef Gingold and Henryk Szeryng. She concertized widely in Europe before settling in the U.S.A as a Professor at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh and later at Western Washington University on the West Coast. She was a prizewinner in the Vienna International Violin Competition and received the Emma Feldman Award in Philadelphia. Prof. Charmian GADD has played with three piano trios of note - the Trio Concertante with Laszlo Varga and Istvan Nadas in the 1960s and later with Patricia Parr and Fritz Magg in the 70s. Most recently she was a member of Australia's Macquarie Trio with Kahthryn Selby and Michael Goldschlager. She returned to Australia in 1987 and has since been head of the string department at the Sydney Conservatorium and the Canberra School of Music.
