2 PORT OF PUNTA ARENAS

There has recently been an increase in maritime traffic to and from this port, which has obliged the private company to expand its area of development to the Bahia Catalina sector, constructing a new commercial wharf there. This had made it necessary to extend the limits of the port (as detailed in the annexed map) and thus requiring it to move the traffic separation scheme to the east, in the position shown on the map, thus ensuring greater safety of navigation on entry to and exit from the port.

2.1 The new traffic separation scheme in the port of Punta Arenas will consist of:

Two (2) traffic lanes

One (1) traffic separation zone

2.2 The direction of navigation will be:

Traffic lane for entry into the port

True bearing 296°

Traffic for exit from the port:

True bearing 129°

2.3 The existing aids to navigation in the zone are considered adequate and appropriate to allow shirts to determine their position with the precision required by the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea, 1972.
